The microsorum pteropus from Dennerle plants aka Java fern is the most popular type of fern for aquatics, and is widespread in tropical Asia. This species varies widely and displays a number of different leaf shapes and sizes. Its undemanding nature makes the microsorum pteropus the perfect plant for beginners. Microsorum pteropus grows best when the rhizomes are anchored to rocks or driftwood. Low to medium lighting is completely sufficient, although microsorum pteropus also grows well under strong lighting. Older leaves can sometimes produce plantlets that can easily be cut away and reattached in another place using a piece of thin fishing line
Are you kidding? I think microsorium pteropus is absolutely awesome and fantastic and one of the greater supporting plants in an aquarium. It can live in very low light, it proliferates easily and is a very diverse plant with multiple purposes for any aquatic enthusiast. Because microsorium drop rhizomes and grow on various surfaces, Aquarists can use it in a lot of ways.
